Progress:

  • SUPPORT & HELP
We are extremely pleased with the number of people offering help and support should the community be allowed to run and manage the hall. A retired joiner has offered his expertise. The probation service has offered to help decorate the building. Build-a-Future have also said they will offer assistance. If you want to join us in ensuring a speedy re-opening then please contact us and tell us how you can help. We require a wide range of skills and expertise.
  • PLEDGE
If you would have liked to help but cannot for any reason and you would like to make a donation instead then please don't send any money just yet - contact us now and tell us how much you would like to pledge.
  • PETITION
Mrs Kisby, who organised The Big Petition, to support our efforts, has informed us that the total number of signatures has reached over 3300. That is a real sterling effort, thank you. Mrs Kisby is handing this into the Horncastle District Councillors asking that they present the petition to East Lindsey District Council on May 20th.
  • BUSINESS PLAN
The Business Plan has been completed by the Working Group and has been handed into East Lindsey District Council on Thursday 29th April ahead of the deadline. We await their decision which will, we understand, be announced in July.
The Working Group wish to thank everybody for their help and support and encouragement.
  • AGM
This has been confirmed for Thursday 28th May at 7pm in the Top Deck Suite at the Admiral Rodney Hotel North Street Horncastle - all welcome - and will include:
  • Guest Speaker Magda Read of The Development Trusts Association (DTA)
  • Chairman's Report
  • Treasurer's Report
  • Election of Honorary Officers, Nominations forms will be available prior to the meeting
  • Adoption of the Memorandum and Articles of the new Committee
  • Questions from the public
  • Fix the dates of the next AGM and General Meeting
  • NB Members of public wishing to vote during the meeting must have signed the register of people present.
  • The Stanhope Hall Committee were created and have since registered with Companies House as a company limited by guarantee No 6936814.
  • RAFFLE
  • As part of our fund raising strategy we are arranging a raffle - all the money raised will go towards the on-going costs of campaigning for the re-opening of the former Town Hall - your support for this would be much appreciated. It will be drawn on Wed Aug 19th.
  • As at August 11th the raffle has raised over £1,200.
  • Following the ELDC Executive Board decision on July 14th to demolish the Hall "quickly" we have set up a fighting fund. As at August 11th the fund stands at £13,000 with the raffle money.
  • The Committee have sought legal advice regarding ELDC's actions.
  • ELDC have just announced the they will not demolish the Hall until after the Executive Board meeting on October 13th.
